Stop Motion Animation

Six year old Megan is turning into a veritable filmaker! Here is her latest stop motion animation created with NFB Pix Stop, an app for the ipad.

The possibilities for creating digital stories are unlimited with stop motion animation.  I am currently working with a Grade 5/6 class and for inspiration we viewed award winning NFB filmmaker Co Hoedeman's  La Boîte  The kids were inspired to create layered backgrounds for their scenes. Have a look at this sweet little film. I'll bet you'll be inspired to try your hand at animation.

For non-ipad users, Frame by Frame is another easy to use stop motion animator. It's a free download for both Mac and PC platforms.
